The following list of suggestions will give you an idea of what the media looks for in a professional press release;


1 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2 Contact Information (right)
3 TITLE: ex.THE BEE-TALLS RELEASE NEW CD
4 BODY:

  • The body of the press release should be double spaced and no longer than one page.
  • Target those who would be interested in your announcement.
  • Your aim is to get your news published and a well-written newsworthy release is the first step.
  • Be factual, honest, timely, and brief.
  • Don’t forget to check your grammar and spelling and avoid using clichés.
  • Industry professionals receive an enormous amount of press releases each week and have little patience with poorly written releases.
  • Justify the importance of the information you are conveying by sending releases announcing only current and exciting news.
  • Look at your favorite music or entertainment weekly; most likely you’ll find a page of announcements about CD releases, tours, or label signings. How do they compare with your release?
